YAASSS Queen’s Jubilee Street-party!

If you haven’t had chance to be involved in any of our celebrations in Canterbury, Canterbury or Ashford this week, their are plenty of ways to put on the perfect Queens Platinum Jubilee street party this weekend and we’ve got our top picks at how to make it the best:

Afternoon Tea

Nothing says ‘British Street Party’ like a spread of Afternoon Tea, to start off the celebrations so how about making a double tier Victoria Sponge or some homemade fresh cream scones, obviously accompanied with easy finger food, like sandwiches, cupcakes, shortbread biscuits etc.

Union Jacks

Decoration is key to a truly patriotic Street-party and it’s time to wave those Union Jacks high. Break out the bunting, the tablecloths, napkins, even decorate your food with the Union Jacks Red, White and Blue.

Flowers

We’re all hoping for nice weather the weekend of the Jubilee weekend and nothing makes a Street-party spread look nicer than to adorn your tables with bouquets of flowers, maybe even in the colours of Red, White and Blue.

Jubilee Bake-Off

We mentioned earlier about making sure you have plenty of cakes and baked goods to your street-party spread, well how about adding a little bit of healthy competition and host your own Jubilee Bake-Off with you and your neighbours; the task a ‘A Cake fit for a Queen’. Whatever the winner wins, you decide?

British Classics

It’s a party and it just wouldn’t be complete without a fantastic British Classics Playlist for your street-party so make sure to include; The Beatles, Spice Girls, Queen, Elton John, Tom Jones, Wham!, David Bowie just to name a few artists you you need to add to your YAASSS Queen’s Jubilee Playlist.

Dress for the Occasion

We’re not saying you need to dust of the fascinator or anything but we can rock a bit of Red, White and Blue for our Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, or even better why not make it fancy dress, dress in a iconic royal look, come dressed as a British Beefeater, let your imagination run wild.

Plenty of Drinks

It goes without saying that no street-party would be right without a few drinks to bring the Jubilee merriment. So how about making a Pimm’s Cocktail Punch or Mojito for everyone or if we are feeling a little more exotic try a nice Sangria. Whatever it is remember to drink responsibly and carefully, a street-party if for everyone.

We hope we’ve given you a few ideas and tips at how to make your very own ‘YAASSS Queen’s Jubilee’ Street-party the best every for our Queen Lizzie’s Platinum Jubilee, we hope you all have the best Bank Holiday Weekend and ‘GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!’
