Glitterbomb in Cambridge

Statement re: FUSE’s Open Letter to Glitterbomb.

Glitterbomb wants to thank FUSE for their work in highlighting an incident at Vinyl Nightclub in Cambridge on Wednesday 9th June 2021 whereby members of the Vinyl management team used a racial slur in conversation with black students.

We became aware of a post on social media in the evening of Friday 11th June and raised our concerns with Vinyl on Monday 14th June. We were subsequently informed that the manager involved had left the business.

The reason we did not respond at the time was because the incident did not occur at a Glitterbomb event and we had received assurance that Vinyl was dealing with this internally. After discussing this further with FUSE, we understand that more public acknowledgement of the incident could have been made at that time.

We apologise if this lack of action undermined the trust for Glitterbomb’s stance on inclusivity with respect to all races and ethnicities. We continue to support inclusivity and appreciate any and all feedback as to how our guests feel this could be best achieved.

Glitterbomb supports the steps Vinyl has since taken and will be working alongside them with their on-going work to repair trust with FUSE, it’s members and the wider communities they represent. We also reiterate our commitment to ensuring our venues are safe spaces for all of the LGBTQ+ community.
