A lot can happen in a decade and the 2010s has seen some very iconic pop culture moments. So lets look back at a few that defined the decade…

2010 – Lady Gaga Meat Dress at MTV VMA Awards 

Gaga is known for always doing something crazy but the meat dress she wore to accept her award for video of the year for Bad Romance is one of the craziest! The meat dress was immediately described as “most outrageous fashion moment” of the evening  and was named by Time as the top fashion statement of 2010. Gaga explained that she wore the dress to highlight her distaste for the US military’s don’t-ask-don’t-tell policy.


2011 – Beyonce is Pregnant.

Before performing “Love on Top” at the 2011 MTV VMA awards, Beyoncé told the audience, “I want you to feel the love that’s growing inside of me.” After an amazing performance, Beyoncé unbuttoned her jacket to proudly show off her baby bump, revealing to the world that she was expecting!


2012 – Gangnam Style

Gangnam Style became a viral sensation, galloping into the charts and clubs and taking over Youtube. It became the first video to achieve 1 billion views on video sharing platform. 


2013 – Miley Madness

Miley Cyrus took her place in the spotlight as she came in like a wrecking ball and her performance twerking against Robin Thicke shocked the world at the MTV VMA Awards. 


2014 – Oscar host Ellen DeGeneres broke the Internet

With an all-star selfie taken by Bradley Cooper, Ellen got Jennifer Lawrence, Jared Leto, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Kevin Spacey, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Lupita Nyong’o all in the same shot, creating a massive viral twitter moment! 


2015 – Welcome Caitlyn Jenner

On the historic cover of Vanity Fair, the world got to meet Caitlyn Jenner. The article gave the chance for Jenner to shed light on the high suicide rate in the transgender community, and how it’s more likely that a transgender person will experience job discrimination and violence.


2016 – Leonardo DiCaprio wins the Oscar

Finally, Leonardo DiCaprio won an Oscar! After many nominations, DiCaprio finally took away an Oscar for his role in The Revenant. 


2017 – The most-watched event of the year

Lady Gaga took over the super bowl half time show solo for the first time and delivered a breathtaking performance as she dived off the roof of the stadium! The Oscars once again took centre stage as Moonlight, the movie about a young black gay man struggling with his identity took home an historic Best Picture win but not before the prize was announced with a different winner! 


2018 – A Royal Wedding

The marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was the event of the year! Meghan dazzled on her big day and, as a former actress from LA added a certain sparkle to the Royal family. Unfortunately the honeymoon period didn’t last long for the couple but the wedding was certainly a day to remember!

2019 – Gaga Again!

Lady Gaga got people talking again when an especially steamy performance of “Shallow” at the Oscars sparked rumours that she and Bradley Cooper had a real off-screen romance!
